Sometimes the simplest things are the ones we use the most. And so it is with this stitch which I call the star stitch. So far I haven't come across this stitch in a stitch dictionary - although I have seen other stitches called 'star stitch'. If you have come across it, I'd love to know about it. Since this stitch looks like a star - that's what I'm calling it.
If you are familiar with my patterns - you'll know that I use it quite a lot. Because I love it. I like to think of it as the stitch that adds a bit of sparkle. Perfect when I want to add a bit of extra colour.
It is really simple to do:
Make a large flat cross stitch. Then add a vertical stitch in the middle. And there you have it, a star!
Here's a little flower with some extra star sparkle. :-)
What are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!
I LOVE that flower! The star stitches really add a great element to the finished piece.
