This week I want to share another embroidery seen in the &Stitches Flickr Pool - this work-in-progress is by Pam of the blog Gingerbread Snowflakes.

Pam is working on a table runner of her own design, inspired by the intricate look of Dutch canal houses. Pam's embroidery will include eight houses once she's finished, and each one is unique and based on real canal house design attributes.

This piece grabbed me immediately - for one thing, I actually used to live in Holland myself and would also admire these beautiful old buildings as I walked past them! I also really love how Pam's approached the stitching of them in a sampler style, experimenting with different stitches to create a variety of textures and shapes in her work. I'll so enjoy watching this embroidery come together as she works on it!
Julie is a knitter and stitcher, born in the US but now living in the UK. She loves vintage embroidery books and bad slasher movies. With her mum, Julie designs embroidery pattern inspired by literature under the name Little Dorrit & Co.
