Stitchy Wish List: Japanese Craft Books

andstitches december header 2015_

One item that's always on my stitchy wish list is an addition to my Japanese craft book collection. These books used to be fairly tough to find in America, but there are now quite a few places to find them in the English speaking world.

These are a few of my recent favorites.

A Few of my Favorite Japanese Embroidery Books

This book (ISBN 978-4-529-05201-6) is a collection of teeny tiny embroidery patterns that are perfect for hand-stitched brooches.

A Few of my Favorite Japanese Embroidery Books

This book (ISBN 978-4-529-05025-8) has a great selection of embroidery and felt appliqué patterns in all sorts of themes. I couldn't resist the cute Alice in Wonderland page, of course.

A Few of my Favorite Japanese Embroidery Books

This series, Stitch Ideés, is always full of beautiful inspiration in all sorts of needlework, and includes lovely inspiration for using your embroideries as well as some beautiful studios of Japanese needlework artists.

A few places to look for Japanese craft books:
• An Etsy search for "Japanese embroidery book" will give you plenty of eye candy to add to your own wish list
• There are quite a few Japanese craft books available used on Amazon & Ebay.
• The bookstore Kinokuniya has been expanding and has quite a few locations around America now.
• If you're looking for a specific book and don't know Japanese, you can use the ISBN to search more easily.

What are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!
