No Floss Allowed: Blossoms and Nest

NoFlossAllowed

Blossoms and Nest 8
Easing in gently to the No Floss Allowed theme, I thought I'd share this beautiful embroidery found on Flickr. Created by Kirsten Chursinoff, Blossoms and Nest 8 combines traditional embroidery floss with thick, woolly yarns, beads, even tiny eggs!

I love how the non-traditional materials add such a depth and texture to the piece. The tree has such a solid trunk, the nest looks so cozy yet fragile with its mix of thick and thin materials, and the blossoms are given a delicate lift with the sparkly beads. Stitch art at its finest!

What are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!

  1. I really like this. Embroidery like this makes me want to touch it straight away. Those french knots are perfection, and those eggs - so cute.
