Here is some last minute inspiration for the Old Stitches New Tricks competition. This 'blood' embroidery by Charlotte Bailey uses a gold work technique of couching metallic threads over padding to raise the stitching up from the surface if the fabric. Despite the use of a traditional technique the subject matter keeps it modern. I'm a fan of any stitched text and this is a brilliantly inventive (and gloriously gory) example.
