Found on Flickr: The Dolphin Portal

dolphin portal

This bright, bold, dense and colourful work is from Fiona Bearclaw, spotted on the &Stitches Flickr group. Entitled 'dolphin portal', the dolphin silhouette encloses a richly forested world, featuring woodland creatures, flowing river and blazing sunset. And no magical portal would be complete without a rainbow and mystical creature flying on a broomstick. Fantastic!

I am mesmerized by the intensity of the work - the impenetrable forest is filled with individual trees in a range of green hues; the river has the subtlest colour gradation as it flows towards the foreground; even the lone tree on the hilltop possesses a mighty trunk and thick foliage. Enchantment is everywhere you look.

But what is the link between the dolphin and the forest? That is a mystery...

What are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!
