Wishing Well II
To wind down our month of satin stitch exploration, I wanted to show feature a little satin stitch in action. I think this piece, "Wishing Well II", by Fiona Clark, is a wonderful use of satin stitch, making a bright and colorful textured piece.
I love how Fiona has used just satin stitch and running stitch here, which just goes to show that embroidery doesn't always have be complicated, stitch-wise, to be very effective. Satin stitch especially has such a special effect, it doesn't really need anything else to shine.
See more of Fiona's work in her Flickr photostream or on her blog. I hope you all have enjoyed our look at satin stitch and picked up a helpful tip or two - we'll be telling you about what's coming up next very soon!
