Stitcheries without a spine: Jellyfish!

Found on Flickr

1. jelly, 2. Moon Jelly 9, 3. Completed Jellyfish, 4. Cross stitch Brand New tribute

When I saw several stitcheries of Jellyfish rise to the surface (hehe) on Flickr recently, I was a little surprised at first. Jellyfish are not the most cuddly animals around and can be quite annoying when you try to to swim in the sea. But if you have ever studied a jellyfish up close (our local Zoo has a wonderful tank with Jellies!) you will notice that these actually are fascinating animals. The way they move, the fact that you can see through them and their swirly 'legs' (tentacles?) make them perfect candidates for some creative embroidery.
