Stitchy Crush: Embroidering with Perle Cotton

Admiring these threads for Tools & Toys Tuesday

Do you have a favorite thread? One that beats all the others, hands down? My thread crush is perle cotton - this particular thread is Finca, and it very well might be the nicest I've used, but I'm not especially particular, as long as it's a very lightweight perle. A thin perle thread just makes the most delicious, crispy stitches:

There's just enough bulk to the thread to create a lovely, touchable texture, and the simplest stitches look especially wonderful in perle!

I admit, I haven't done a lot of stitching lately, but this thread is the only thing that can lure me back from time to time, it just makes my stitchy fingers swoon!

What are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!

  1. What pretty stitching! I love perle thread, the texture it adds is gorgeous, I also use it for hand quilting.
