My Stitchy Resolutions

Oroboros

My stitchy resolutions for the year are very similar to the rest of my artsy resolutions. Last year, I made the leap to working as a full time artist, which is tons of fun, but I didn't spend enough time on projects that were just for me.

In my stitching, that meant I didn't do much experimentation that might be tough to sell as an embroidery pattern. The image above shows one of the first new stitches I'd even tried in years, long-and-short stitch. I'd love to make more embroideries using stitches I don't know as well and try some fun, new techniques.

Of course, this blog is the perfect outlet for that, as we have some fun experiments up our sleeves for the year. I'm looking forward to using at as a reason to do some stitching that's just for me. And, as usual, I can't wait to see what the rest of the team cooks up. There's no end of inspiration for new stitchy techniques to try in this group!

What are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!

  1. Isn't that the artist's dillemma; do what you like but you need to make a living too...
    I love this embroidered dog!
