No Floss Allowed: Stitching with Grass

NoFlossAllowed
When the "No Floss Allowed" theme was suggested I panicked a little. I had absolutely no idea what to do and I felt like all the logical choices for stitching materials were already chosen. So in my panic I signed up for the first stitchable thing I could think of, long grass, even though I wasn't entirely sure it would work. Thankfully we have a little garden box with some extremely long grass growing that we haven't tended to, so I had my stitching materials right in my backyard. The other afternoon when my girls were outside playing, I snipped a few pieces and got to playing around with stitches. I knew the grass would be fairly fragile so I didn't think it would work stitching through any sort of fabric. I got a piece of 7ct plastic canvas and used that with a tapestry needle. It was sturdier than I expected but I did still manage to break the grass pieces a few times. It worked much better than I anticipated but I can't really see myself doing any more than just this experiment! What are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!
