December colour inspiration - variegated

&Stitches December colour inspiration
For this month's colour inspiration I picked out a bunch of variegated floss. They are sort of Christmas inspired, but you could easily use these at any other time of the year. So pretty.

Recently, I have been looking at my variegated DMC floss a lot. I haven't yet thought of a project or pattern where they would be perfect. They are so pretty in skein form, but once you cut lengths of floss.. they don't seem so saturated. And I love saturated colours. :-)

What are you stitching? Please share in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!

  1. I use the variegated floss a bit. I primarily embroider redwork (sometimes in other colors). The white/gray/black is fabulous to embroider ghosts. I think it gives the outline a bit of shading & texture. I've just started experimenting with the red variations in some redwork projects.
