As you know, the rule is to not use the colour black when stitching a typical blackwork pattern. Here is Sami's pretty blue square:
Gorgeous, isn't it? :-)
Sami told us a little about the pattern she stitched: "it is an Elizabethan diaper pattern from an old book that I have that I have always liked and fancied stitching."
Thank you, Sami!
Have you stitched a chartreusework example? Do share it in the &Stitches Flickr group. We'd love to see it!
Lovely :) I have an old book that collects together blackwork samples from Elizabethan embroidery. There is one piece I am thinking of doing in red, black and gold. Will absolutely share once done.
