One-Stitch Challenge Follow-Up!

One Stitch Challenge FO

I've finished my one-stitch challenge project, using only running stitch! It really was a challenge to keep trying to find new ways to use the one stitch, but I really enjoyed it. It felt like it made my stitchy-brain work out a bit!

Once you use up the obvious things to do - outline shapes, mix up thread thicknesses - the rest gets a little trickier. Filling in areas is especially challenging - assuming your one stitch isn't satin stitch, of course! I have to admit, by the end of my project, I was starting to really crave some other stitches, any other stitches, and I was cursing the bits of my chosen fabric print that didn't want to work with me. I'm not completely happy with every little bit I stitched, some areas work better than others, but the challenge did what it was supposed to: help me think outside the box on what stitches can do. I'll definitely do another sometime a different stitch!

I hope you join us and play along - if you do, don't forget to tell us about it or show off in the &Stitches Flickr group!

  1. I love this. I am currently trying to fit in and 'do' this to some of my fabric as I was so inspired by your last post. The fabric is gorgeous and I love the finished item. Thank you for sharing. Sue x
